Robot, Sprocket, and Gear Cookies
When I was a little girl, I always wished I had a robot. You know, like Rosie from the Jetsons. She’d call me Miss C, clean my room, and do help me with my homework, especially math. And if I was lucky, she might even come with a magic dinner maker too.
I thought by 2012 personal robots would be a reality, but since it doesn’t look like that’s happening anytime soon, I had to realize my dream in cookie form.
The main focus of this platter is robots, of course, but today I want to talk about the sprocket and gears. I love these cookies because they are the perfect combination of cute and simple.
After cutting out various flower cookies, use a circle cookie to clip the petals.
Once that’s done, use a small round fondant cutter, icing tip, or straw to cut out the center.
Bake them, then outline and flood. If you want to get super fancy, add a little sanding sugar to the edges. If you aren’t sure how to so this, I have a helpful how-to right here. If you need custom-colored sanding sugar learn how to make it here.
Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about the robots. You can find a full list of the cutters I used to make them by clicking HERE.
PS-Did you know that in Texas even the robots wear cowboy hats?
These would also make great Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Cookies, especially if you’re not up to attempting Mickey’s face.
Hopefully I’ll have a robot of my own in a few years. In the meantime, I guess cookies will have to do.
Happy Baking!
OMG Callye – it’s official! You are a flippin’ GENIUS! I have been trying to figure out a way to make gears for Mickey and Imagination Mover themed cookies and you made it look so easy!
Awesome! Wish I had thought of this a few months back when I made a million of these… https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.225427717567423.45536.137168359726693&type=3#!/photo.php?fbid=264667226976805&set=a.225427717567423.45536.137168359726693&type=3&theater. I do have to make more next month and will definitely use the flower cutter! Thanks again Callye for your brilliant cookie mind!!!
Ooooooh Callye!!! Theses are awesome!!! I love them as an addition to MM sets too!
Wow – such a great idea using the flower cutters for the gears! I bet you could also use an icing tip to cut the hole in the middle. I don’t have any small fondant cutters, so it is my makeshift solution for smaller holes 🙂
Can’t wait to see how you made those cute robots!! 🙂
Ummm we have a major robot fetish at our house..in fact…the hubby is known to do a pretty crazy robot dance if we are lucky:) These are just amazing…love em all!!!! Especially the cowboy hats!!!!
Great job! These are so cute.
love these, they are so cute! and yes, I totally expected your robots to have cowboy hats!
AAAH!!! Love these!! Way too freaking cute1
Yep! Another great set. Thanks
SHAZAM!! Out of the park! Always amazing!
You know how much I love these!! If I could find a way to have a robot, I would! If it could be wall-e or r2d2, even better!! Love all the gears! You are always the best at coming up with new uses for cutters, I wish I could borrow your brain!!
R2 D2!!! You’re the genius!!!
your one talented lady!!!! awesome job!!!!
holy crap! these are just so stinking cute and that flower to gear tip is brilliant. thank you!
You are a cookie genius!! I’ve had a “star of life” cookie cutter on my wish list for the longest. My husband is an EMT and I love sending his co-workers cookies. Trimming a flower makes a perfect star of life shape! Brilliant!
Those robots are also beyond cuteness. The cowboy hats made me chuckle!
You are the cookie GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love that idea! WHAT A GREAT!
This deserves a double pat on the back! Such a good idea!
Can’t wait to whip some up! 😀 Your blog has helped me to look outside the “cookie” box when it comes to cutters. Seriously, you’re a life (and $) saver!
Wow! As always, in awe of your creative mind, and steady hands!!
These are so cute! I wonder what event or occasion you made them for…? I especially love that ten-gallon hat 😀
Flowers as sprockets and gears! Brilliant! You are the best cookie cutter shape maker in the universe!
Cowboy robots and flower sprockets! You are a cookie decorating robot yourself (meant in the most complimentary of terms) Someone needs to capture what’s in your brain and sell it to the rest of us! Love these.
so fun, I wanted to make steam punk gear cookies but there was no way I was going find a cutter, now I have a better way, thanks:)
That’s a great IDEA! These would be perfect for steam punk!
So cute!! I love seeing all your ideas 🙂
Very clever and such great colors. I loved the sanding sugar edges. Joni
All things codsediren, this is a first class post
As always, this is ART.
Super cute, as always! Maybe I can convince my son to have a robot birthday this year!
Such an adorable cookie collection! I love the idea to use flower cutters for the gears. And the cowboy robots are awesome 🙂
Oh I do adore robots. In fact I’m just in the middle of making som Robot Cakepops. I made my own cogs and sprockets cookies from some of the cutters I had sitting around and I’m feeling really silly at the moment cause what you did it totally simpler. You are totally a genius with cookie cutter re-purposing.
You are a genius.
Your cookies are AMAZING! Your creativity is really impressive. What cutters did you use for the robots?
