Ebay, A Great Place to Shop for Cookie Cutters
Nothing feels better than a little shopping therapy, especially after a long hard day. I know the last thing I need is more cookie cutters, but I can’t help myself. I just love searching for unique shapes like these.
Believe it or not, I found every single one of these lovelies on eBay. I love stumbling upon unusual cutters that I’ve never seen before. It’s like a treasure hunt. I’ve come across tall pumpkins, random shaped hearts, cats that can be owls, and wonky stars… just to name a few.
Here are some of my favorites.
A neato scalloped oval, which is a great size {about 3.5 inches} and has unique zigzaggy scallops that I love.
These tiny star and heart cutters, perfect for itty-bitty accent cookies.
A handy leaf, which is the one I used for this hibiscus set and a simple snowman, one of my all-time faves. I’ve used this guy for about a hundred different designs and I could probably think of a hundred more.
I also have this oval cutter, which is a little longer than the first one. I used these to make my 2012 New Year cookies, which would also work well for a graduation theme {hint, hint}.
And finally, my latest love, this wonky spider web. I’ve only had this one a few weeks. Isn’t it cool? I’ve got ten ideas for it already!
I could go on and on, but I shouldn’t. Instead, I’ll share a few of my own tips for cutter shopping on eBay:
- I kind of prefer plastic but there are all kinds of cutters available. As a matter of fact, there are so many that it can seem overwhelming. To narrow it down, I suggest very specific searches. For example, if you’re looking for a skull cutter, type “skull cookie cutter” or “copper skull cutter”. This will get you a lot closer to the prize than a broad term like “Halloween cookie cutter”.
- There is a huge price range when it comes to eBay cutters. If you see one you like but it seems a bit pricey, don’t buy it. Look around a bit. It could be included in a lot of cutters, which often sells for less than a single. If you don’t need them all, resell them, or pass them along to friends.
- Check measurements. It’s irritating to get uber excited about a cool monkey cutter that turns out to be eight inches across…not that I’ve ever done that or anything.
- If you have your heart set on that expensive copper cutter, it never hurts to check eBay first. You may just get lucky!
- Buy cutters that can be used for many things.
Finding new cookie cutters is almost as exciting as looking for buried treasure and can easily get out of hand. Just know that if you’re cookie cutter collection looks like this, you’re not alone. There’s a place for you! Check out The Cookie Cutter Collectors Club. For just $25 dollars a year, you can join. They have conventions and everything!!!
My cutter shopping is not just limited to eBay, of course. I also frequent these fun spots.
- Country Kitchen Sweet Art
- Amazon.com
- The Cookie Cutter Company
-
Bake it Pretty
-
Ecrandal
- Cheap Cookie Cutters
- Plastics in Print
-
And of course, good ol’ Ebay
PS-Please don’t mention my name to your significant others when the packages start arriving. You may not be allowed to visit me anymore!
Wow, your collection is insane! I’ve only just started collecting and I’m sure it wont be long before I start catching up 😀
What’s your ‘ceiling’ on ebay? What price won’t you go over, or does it depend on the cutter?

I *try* not to go over ten dollars including shipping…but, every once in a while I get caught in one of those bidding wars. I usually wait on the plastic ones to come up again I they’re super high…

As soon as I saw that spider web one it made me think of old comic book captions like when Batman hit a bad guy “Ka-Pow!”, “Bam!”, and even “Zing!” 🙂
I have lost more than once on an ebay auction….perhaps you are those fast fingers out bidding me in the last minute!? I also ask around for cutters, many “older” folks have them, haven’t used them in years, and just pitch them. Some of the old ones are truly works of art!
Nice to see you like the plastic ones too! I prefer them for two reasons. First of all, there are no “overlaps” places where the beginning and end of the metal strip are joined. And second, but very important… They are dishwasher safe! Yay!
(it did take me a while to figure out what the gold colored one was supposed to be, hehehehe…)
Hello there, You have done an incredible job. I will dnfieitely digg it and personally suggest to my friends. I’m confident they’ll be benefited from this web site.VA:F [1.9.17_1161]please wait…
OK….I need to get myself back on ebay! 😉 Haven’t searched for cutters there in ages! Something tells me that you stake out all of the good ones! 😉
I look forward to the day when the Cookie Cutter Organizing Fairy visits my house. Your collection is proof she exists. 🙂
Susie, remember to wait until the last minute to bid. Otherwise, you’re bidding against yourself. You give everybody the opportunity to bid against you. Determine the MOST you want to pay for a cutter and bid that much. Don’t get carried away with the winning. I once got carried away with the challenge and bid about three times as much as I should have for a framed picture I wanted.
what a helpful post. I am bookmarking this for the great list of cookie cutter providers. Great research here. Thanks so much.
Oooooo my favorite cutter! This could get interesting…..which one to pick….hmmmmm!
You have a very good site, well constructed and very intniestreg i have bookmarked you hopefully you keep posting new stuff.Fine information, thanks to theVA:F [1.9.17_1161]please wait…
Is that your cutter collection in the last photo?!?! WOW!
Guilty 🙂
What is that bronzey colored cutter on the top left of the photo supposed to be? At first glance, I thought spaceship/rocket or gun and then I went to body parts. sorry. Now I need to ask what is is supposed to be…
I think it’s a candle stick…an old-fashioned one with a little loop handle.
I can’t even believe your cutter collection!!
wow… lol how do you know what you have and still need?
I love this post. I know you make TONS of cookies, but have you ever thought about posting a sketch of multiple ideas for different cookie cutters. I’m more of a visual learner. By the way your collection is absolutely beautiful!!! I love going to yard sales and snagging cutter for a steal!
What a fun post! I love looking at other people’s cookie cutter collections.
My most versatile cutter is probably a cupcake, but my favorites are always the snowmen. I love the one you’ve got here too, I used him to make Easter bunnies!

Every time I look at your cutters I feel relieved… IF my husband ever mentions I have too many, is it OK that I show him this post?? lol Love ya!
OMG. The Cookie Cutter Collectors club meeting for 2012 is almost in my neighborhood.
You are so organized! I am also wondering what that bronzey cookie cutter is in the upper left part of the first photo. My guess is a hammer or tool or some sort? My favorite one is the lime green cat cookie cutter! It looks like it would make a great “chinese cat” cookie. You know, the ones with those huge eyes and the waving paw? haha
It’s Candlestick 🙂 that would make a great Chinese cat!!!
I *try* not to go over ten dollars including shipping…but, every once in a while I get caught in one of those bidding wars. I usually wait on the plastic ones to come up again I they’re super high…
Just out of curiousity, why do you prefer plastic? All of mine so far are metal and I have always wondered if the plastic would cut through the dough as well as the metal ones do. (I have flashbacks to play-doh – the plastic doesn’t always cut through! LOL)
No good reason, except II can put them in the dishwasher, lol 🙂
I love this post. I do not make many cookies, but still I can not help it, every time I go someplace I look and I still buy cutters and cutters, which I have no place to put them at home, to the point that I had to buy a new piece of furniture in the kitchen. Greetings and thanks
Such a fun post!! I feel the sudden urge to head to e-bay… somebody stop me! =)
Doitdoitdoit!
I can’t live without my circles! But of course, that doesn’t stop me from buying all sorts of shapes! You can NEVER stop buying cookie cutters! 🙂
Callye, It’s too late; My husband already knows all about Sugarbelle! 🙂 That is QUITE a cookie cutter collection! Time to check out that club…
BTW, YOU could get by with a handful of cutters and still end up with a gazillion different cookies!
Oh gee….I have just spent a small fortune on cutters after reading this post, some on ebay and some on The Cookie Cutter Company (no one told me about $1 cutters???!!! Thank you Callye!) I might have to start selling the cookies I am making to pay for all the cutters! Fun post, thanks again Callye 🙂
I try not to look at cutters when I go shopping or I would be over run with them all!
I’m not sure I have a favorite cookie cutter yet, but my most recent purchase was for a shield shape to make Route 66 cookies for my hubbie’s 66th’ bday party this Friday. And hey – guess what! It will pretty much work for ANY route shape that has a shield, and even Phillips 66 gas stations! I’m not sure how many parties we’ll be able to celebrate using it, but there you go. And… a quick mention about that HAND cookie cutter I’ve had, which I’ve said many times that I’m not sure what I’d ever use it for… IT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR THE VULCAN SALUTE! And I’m surprised you haven’t begged me to send it to you yet for your Star Wars collection! Just spread the fingers apart after you cut out the dough. PERFECT, I tell you!
if you turn your shield upside down, does it make a rocket?
I love your blog and I have learned so much from it : )
Last year I was planning a Barbapapa birthday party and was looking for cookiecutters with that theme, and of course I didn’t find it. Until I found in London a Barbapapa playdough set with Barbapapplastic plastelina cutters. After that I often look at plastelina/playdough set to see if it has som cutters that I like : )
Oh my look at all those boxes!!! Love!
Your snowman could be an awesome wedding cake.. and the one you call spider, when I first saw it in the pile… i thought “holly leaf”,
OMG-I cannot believe your collection!! My husband would leave me… LOL
This is too funny because I just decided to get into cookies this week and I have been spending countless hours scouring eBay for plastic cookie cutters! I laughed to myself when I saw your post last night. I think I just discovered your blog a few days ago too! Your post continued to inspire me and let me know i started my collection off right. My first batch of cutters arrived in the mail today and I love them. Thanks! You may hear me chiming in with a few questions here and there as I plan on tackling this 20 second icing in the next few weeks.
Well I’m actually hugely jealous that you found a monkey cutter that is 8″! I think that woul dhave been my kind of heaven! My daughter’s baby shower is the end of June and I’m super excited to make my first monkey for her jungle themed baby shower. She bought me a monkey head cutter and I bought a monkey body that I drooled over for months before I broke down and bought it. I’ve found lots of special treasures on Ebay too. Your huge collection of cookie cutters is amazing Callye!
A cookie cutter collectors club?! How fun, thanks as always for the great info! 🙂
p.s. What is that awesome black blob cookie cutter?! A ghost? 🙂 I want one, time to go scour ebay!
The first thing I thought of for that funky spiderweb was the “Pow!” and “Blam!” bubbles in comics. That one can do double duty the next time you have to make Spiderman cookies!
Me too!! Superhero cookies!!!
It’s probably out there somewhere, but why hasn’t someone come up with a trade deallio (fancy word there) for cookie cutters? Sort of like netflix but with cookie cutters. I don’t know about anyone else but I don’t have the space/money for large amount of cookie cutters.
Just got into baking, came across ur website. Just wanna say Love ur collection!!
I am finally going for my dream! I am starting that baking business I have always had in my dreams. What do you suggest would be the first cookies cutters I invest in? I have painted for years on canvas/wood but just lost interest. Once I saw cookie decorating, I knew it was time to combine my passion for baking and painting into one area! Thank you a million times over for all this information you have given us. I am just printing away and cant wait to get started. Huge hugs!
