Inexpensive Icing Bag Holder
It’s about summertime which means that you should start your bathing suit diet, planning for summer vacation, and keeping an eye out for these…
No, this isn’t turning into a popsicle blog. Believe it or not, these things make the best icing holders!
So far, I own three of these gems and I plan snagging a few more. I often find them at grocery and dollar stores and big box stores like Target and Walmart. Once, I even got lucky and found one sans sticks {which is fine with me} at a second hand store!
Speaking of second hand stores, that’s where I found this lazy Susan/makeup brush organizer thing. IT ALSO makes a great icing bag holder, and it spins!
All of these cost around a dollar and they work better than more expensive icing holders like THIS and THIS.
You can keep your tips clear by adding damp paper towels to the bottom, or if you REALLY want to go green, cut up an old t-shirt or dishcloth and reuse the strips. Cleanup is as easy as rinsing the holder and throwing the strips into the wash with your icing towels.
This is a tried and true tip that REALLY works. No more monopolizing every glass in the house for a cookie project!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. See ya Monday!
Love it!!!!! I go through bag phases and bottle phases. Right now I’m on bags, even for flooding because I hurt my wrist rolling out really cold dough… don’t ask.
This is a great solution for the icing bags.
Great idea! Thanks for the tip!!!
WAIT….icing towels?
This idea is GENIUS! I love it when people find clever ways to use dollar store stuff.
Great idea!Love it!
So cute! Love this idea!
I’m totally going out and buying some ASAP! My husband and I were just talking about how we need to find something other than all our glasses…LOL
Not to mention the space it saves on the table for decorating! LOVE LOVE this and Thank You for sharing!!!!
Wow, Tara!! What a neat idea!!! I really love that. So , I’ll be making a trip back to Wally World…again!!! I’ve only been there 2x today…need to make it an even third! 🙂
sorry Callye….so I’ll tell you what I told Tara!! What a great idea!!!! 🙂 Guess I wasn’t paying attention to the blog landmarks as I should have been…I was so intrigued with the idea. I love this because it’s all connected and therefore more stable too!!! You’re the best!!!
I love ideas like this!
What a great idea AND cutting up an old shirt instead of using paper towels…brilliant!
Thank You!!
Flippin’ brilliant!! This is a constant source of annoyance, having ten glasses on the table at once. And having to wash them? Feh. You rock, again!
I was thinking about you the other day!!!
Excellent ideas! Love thinking outside the box!
Carrie
Thanks so much for sharing the link to our Etsy page! I love how you think outside of the box 🙂 This is AWESOME!
Your awesomeness is overwhelming! Love these ideas. I just returned the flimsy Wilton bag holder and started using my glasses again! Now, I will go looking for one of these great items. Thank you!
Thanks for this Callye I’m going to keep an eye out for one of these.
I’m hitting the side of my head right now. I see these items all the time and do you think it ever occurred to me to pick them up to hold my icing bags while decorating? Now that you have shared this fantastic idea it will probably be months before I spy them again LOL
What a great idea!
I already told you this on FB but I want to live inside your brain. I think it would be a very happy & fun place. This idea is great! I especially like the idea of using old t-shirts.
Anything to cut up one of Bernie’s old cut offs, lol!!!
I HAVE to open my brain to great ideas like these! How fantastic! I went and bought one of the “specifically for that purpose” bag holders and , well, how disappointing was that?! Thanks so much for your great ideas and the inspiring work you do!
Mine was ALWAYS falling over! So disappointing for $11!
Do you double bag your icing?
Yes…it saves on cleanup and bags…it also allows you to easily interchange bags without having to use a new one each time you run out of color. I have a photo tutorial here and also a link to a video by Karens Cookies https://www.sweetsugarbelle.com/blog/2011/03/coloring-and-preparing-royal-icing/
Great great great!
Great ideas! I love the popsicle holder idea. I found two plastic ice cream cone-shaped things that stand up (sort of look like cone-shaped parfait glasses, but not transparent) at Goodwill this weekend for 49c each! I’d hoped to use them as pastry bag holders for filling the bags, and to save the $15 or so each for some I saw online. I think I’m going to have to look for some of those popsicle holders, too! Thanks for the heads up!
Cracking up about using every cup in the house!! My husband just hates when he cannot find his big Stabucks cup in the cabinet only to find it with a colorful bottle of icing in it! He even made me a wooden stand but I like coffee cups waaay better!
Great idea, thank you so much!
Such a wonderful idea. I don’t need these for my frosting, but I WANT these. So I will have to get these, I deserve them. 🙂
oh you’re such a smart cookie Callye!! Love this
I am the idiot that bought 2 of the Wilton racks! I always have to put them on a tray with damp towels under it. I like this idea SO much better! I am off to the Dollar Store today:) Thanks again for another great tip:)
I just love you. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. As always!
Well aren’t you a Smarty Pants!!! I almost purchased one of those “other” icing holders…this is so much better! Love your ideas, tutorials and personal writings about your cookie/life adventures.
I really love this idea!! Now that I am done moving to a new state and in my new very small apt and I can practice this will be helpful!!
You are GENIUS SSB!!! xo
I have similar maker (like this first one) and I really love it. It works perfectly.
The white lazy susan thing in the second picture is actually a Pampered Chef product. It is black instead of white now but it’s call a tool turn-about. http://www.pamperedchef.biz/rebekahbradfield?page=products-detail&categoryId=96&itemId=2171&productId=15585 There’s also a bamboo turn-about but it’s a little smaller.
What a great idea!!
What a great idea! This” lazy Susan/makeup brush organizer thing” is one of our tool turnabouts.
People use them for all sorts of different purposes and I get a lot of feedback on how great they are for crafts and for organizing items other than kitchen tools
The one you’re using is the original white one. Currently offered in black (item 2171) it’s only $18.50 plus shipping and tax and available on my website http://www.pamperedchef.biz/carolbryant
We also offer a version in bamboo and it is smaller (item 2172) and has 2 levels of storage (vs the three of the 2171).
Let me know if you’re interested in using one of these as a giveaway – I am a huge fan and would be happy to donate one for a giveaway for your followers!
You are one very crafty lady!! I used to bake a lot and decorate, but age has caught up with me. I found your website through flickr and find your work amazing. I may have to try your sugar cookies and do a little decorating. The flowers are beautiful!!
Love the popsicle maker made for icing bags holder! It also holds bottles from 2-8 oz. but you might have to have a tip cover on them because they don’t reach the bottom. So Happy to have something affordable, washable & small. Simply Brilliant, Sugarbelle!
I just did cookies and was thinking to myself, “There has got to be something out there that I can use instead of all these cups.”
Thank you for sharing! I’m getting a couple this week 🙂
Love , love, love the idea! So I went hunting for similar things that could serve the purpose as well and found this in a local “dollar” type store. It is a cutlery drainer and separates for easy cleaning!

Thanks for the inspiration!
Brilliant idea! I am heading to the dollar store today!!!
Thanks for sharing! This is superb! Could you tell me what the bottom of the cone measures. Seems the one’s I’m seeing are about an inch at the bottom. They seem small, but maybe that’s a good size. Thanks again, you’re genius!
Oh, my gosh! Great idea!!!
Callye, will you measure the thingies? I bought a couple of these but I’m not sure the little cavities are long enough.
OMG! I pinned this…fabulous idea!
Great double duty tips!
I had been looking for these Pop molds for a couple of weeks, I finally got them at Walmart. What a deal only a dollars. Great idea Ty
How long can these icing be stored for? Can I freeze them? or do i have to use it all in 1 go?
This is an awesome web site. 🙂 Great ideas.

I cannot believe the number of times I’ve had a question about cookies, and every single time, I find YOU in a Google search. This is exactly the information I was looking for this morning, thank you so much! The wet cloth in the bottom of a popsicle mold? Seriously, I think I love you!
You are a genius! I hate having cups all over the place holding my icing bags.
OMG, what a great idea! Practical plus inexpensive. I’m now out to my $ Store to look for some.
