Easy Lego Cookies
So, we’ve covered LEGO MAN COOKIES, so I thought it would be a good idea to run through the simplest cookies of all, LEGO cookies. I love these because they are one of the easiest decorated cookies I have ever made!
For the actual blocks I used simple rectangle and square cutters like THIS and THIS, but ANY will work!
Choose the colors you like {I liked primary colors} and outline the shapes with a #2 tip and fill. At this point let the cookies dry overnight.
While the cookies were drying, I made a Lego template. Real Legos are perfectly uniform, so I wanted my cookies to be also. I do want to point out, I took a little liberty with the Lego design. Large Legos {which is what these were really intended to be} actually have eight dots rather than six, but to keep them proportionate I cut a few out.
*PS, I know there are six-dot Legos, but even though these are six -ot Legos, they aren’t. They’re the big ones. Yes, I’m crazy.
Anywhoo…I promise, this is okay, and in the long run it’s NOT a big deal. Only OCD people like me will notice. The rest of the world will think they are perfectly adorable!
To create a template placed the cutters I used onto heavy card stock and traced around them. I then used a ruler to even space the “dots”. I used a hole punch to pre-make the holes so that I could use it over again.
After the template was complete, I used the PUSH-PIN TRICK to mark my cookies.
Once the cookies were marked, I used 20-SECOND ICING to apply {dime-size or so} dots to the cookies. I used the same technique as I did for my SIMPLE DOTTY VALENTINE’S DAY COOKIES.
The most important thing to watch here is consistency! Too thin and you will have craters. It’s also a good idea to swirl the tip or a toothpick through the dots like I did HERE to reduce the risk of cratering. Make them a little bit smaller than you want them to be because they will spread a little!
Let the dots dry {about two or three hours} and you will have the easiest Lego cookies you’ve ever made!
My boys love these, and I know your kids will too! If you would like to add the LEGO MAN FACE to the mix click HERE to see the tutorial!

I think my little nephews would love these! I’d better get on it!
these are so so cute!
cute, cute, cute, what a great idea!!
awesome ! Could you please check the link though for the Lego man face – I couldn’t click on it – Thanks!
fixed it =)
Cute!!!!!!
I made Lego cookies recently and they ARE the easiest and the most fun to make! Yours look awesome! 🙂
You said you outlined them and let them dry overnight. Did you mean outline and fill then let them dry overnight? Or do you fill them after the outline dries? Thanks 🙂 I was confused.
Fixed it…I didn’t proofread well!
PERFECTION!!! I love these so much, Callye and know a little boy who will be over the moon when he sees them!
Wonderful as always! Can’t wait to try them out.
LOVE!!!
These are just absolutely perfect…I love them! <3
These are great! I am going to have to make these for my nephew!! I can’t click on the Lego man face link though… it looks like the link may have been omitted?
sorry! I totally missed it. It’s there now =)
These are amazing! I am keeping them on the radar for my nephew 🙂
These are simply adorable Callye! I love that you used a full rectangle and square for the building block pieces instead of tiny little block cookies. Very cute. I’ll have to do that next time. I clicked on the lego man link and the link works, but none of the pictures show up. Maybe it’s just me as my computer is acting up, but I couldn’t view any of the photos from the Lego man post. Thanks!
I am so impressed with your work! We tried making some Valentine cookies and decorating like you, wow is that hard! Finally got the knack at the end, but even then nothing like your work. So inspired by you, thank you for all your postings!
These are simply stunning. Love!!
I just love these (broken record:)), Callye!!! They are so uniform, and the primary colors are the best! Have a great week!
I LOVE that you know that the big Legos have 8 dots! So funny! And the picture of the green icing dots being made? SO PRETTY! Seriously, even your tutorial photos are amazingly appealing to the eye!!
Legos are my fave!!! And the great news is I ordered Star Wars 1-3 on DVD, sonny rainy day marathon collection is complete. AND I forgotta tell you…I have seen a movie in the last two years. I went to watch the Phantom Menace in 3-D last week!!! There was a Sith sitting behind me. I am not kidding. I took pictures!
My hubby would LOVE these! I think I’ll make them for Father’s day for him. Thanks for your inspiration 🙂
Wow, I love these cookies!!! They are so cute and original 🙂
Love it. So simple, colorful, perfect. I’ll post a link on Edible Crafts 🙂 !
You know, you could just use M & M’s upside down inplace of the dots of icing. Might even be yummier.
Super idea!!!!
That’s what I was thinking too, in fact that is what I thought they were…. I was shocked when they weren’t m&m’s, LOL =) Can’t wait to try these out! My Son is obsessed with legos he’ll LOVE these!
Beautifull cookies!! =D
see how awesome your cookies are! When I made mine, they looked so bad, I even tried to do your lego man cookie, it was a disaster, but they tasted great:)
These are so cute and you make them look so easy to make. Thanks for sharing!
This is so fun! Awesome idea!
I love primary colours and your lego blocks are perfect (always loved Lego Man !)

LOVE these legos! pinning now…
These are so cute!! And they look like a cookie I can actually make! 🙂
So cute! How did you make the eyes three dimensional? They look different here than they do in the Lego Man tutorial.
These are so adorable! I was super new to cookies when I made a Lego set and I made my own cookie cutter. I wouldn’t call it a disaster because they were cute, and each Lego guy had a different facial expression, sunglasses, beards, etc, BUT they were ginormous! As your bending and shaping a cutter it’s hard to judge the final cookie size. I wish I saw your genius tutorial for the Lego head template before I fed my son’s kindergarten class frisbee sized cookies!
your explanation about 20 seconds icing is simply fantastic!!! I’m planning a LEGo party for my son and this post is perfect! thank you very much
Super duper cute! And they’re SO PERFECT!! Great job!
These are awesome! Exscuse me for being a total newbie but what kind of icing is this you are using!? Or is it candy coating? Thanks!
Absolutely flippin’ adorable! These would be so cute for a Lego-themed birthday party. And, by the way, you need to send your Lego cookie posts to the people of Lego. I have a feeling they’d want to see them.
I made some Lego block cookies back in January, but yours are way better! Great idea to use a template to make the dots even. I free handed mine and luckily no one cared. LOL! Thanks for the tips!

Hmmm, wonder if I have enough time to make these for my son’s birthday party tomorrow… Look so yummy!
I love this idea! My 6 year old boy absolutely LOVES Legos! These would make such a fun cookie for his birthday party!
Thanks a lot for the helpful cntenot. It is also my opinion that mesothelioma cancer has an extremely long latency time period, which means that indication of the disease may well not emerge right up until 30 to 50 years after the original exposure to asbestos. Pleural mesothelioma, which is the most common type and has an effect on the area throughout the lungs, could potentially cause shortness of breath, chest muscles pains, along with a persistent cough, which may lead to coughing up blood vessels.
These are adorable
My kids would go crazy for these!!
These Lego cookies really make me smile! You are crazy good!

Amazing how something so simple can look so unbelievably difficult. Very cool.
While your Lace Cookies might require more artistry than I can muster, I can tackle these (thanks to the 20-second icing tip!).
Hi there- I can’t find your first name. I made my own version and plan to post and link back to you!
I only saw the main photo on pinterest so when I read your original post i was like, “oh man… you used a template.” Let’s just say I was going for a pastel version of Legos and didn’t even attempt Lego Man! Thanks for the beautiful inspiration. I’m Not a Trophy Wife and I’m clearly not a cookie decorator! Your website is filled with inspiration. I’m off to find your first name! xo, [email protected]
I’m sorry…but after you outlined the cookies; you did not let on how you iced them so perfectly?

I would like to know what recipe for icing you are using please!
I was very grateful to find that you have done Lego cookies. I have found your website in the past and have enjoyed looking at your creativity with cookies. I am a cookie decorator too, but not to quite to your expertise level. I am going to make the Lego cookies. I am wondering about your intructive tutorial. In the picture tutorial on making the bricks,l it shows the Lego cookies are near the size of the Lego Man, but in the Lego Man tutorial, the lego bricks look much smaller in proportion. I am thankful that I already had the Ateco rectangular cutter set.
Would you mind letting me know why there is the difference in the proportion of the bricks to the Lego man in each of the tutorials?
Thanks for sharing your talents.

Which sizes of the square and rectangle cutters did you use? I have the rectangle ones. The smallest one is definitely too small but the two larger ones could work. I was just curious if you used the medium or large for each the square and rectangle. Thanks!

Could the dots be done as transfers? I am so worried about craters!
Absolutely! Thats a sure fire way to avoid them. I have some printable rounds here that you might be able to use too.https://www.sweetsugarbelle.com/2014/07/royal-icing-flower-centers/
Do you have a recipe for the cookie and the icing. I only saw the 20 second icing but not a cookie recipe or snotger icing recipe. Thank you!!
