The Curious Case of the Frankenstein Cutter
So, while I was at cookie camp, I got this COOL Frankenstein Cutter.
I was pretty excited because it had a little more “substance” than my old Frankenstein cutter, so as soon as I got home I baked up a batch of cookies. Turns out he was pretty cute.
Then I got to thinking {y’all know where this leads}. The more I looked at my new cutter, the more I was seeing this guy.
Who’d have thought you could get these two guys out of one cutter? Even Frankie is surprised!
So, the next time you get a request for the “dreaded” Toy Story cookies, don’t forget to look in your Halloween bin! It will make your life at least ONE cookie easier! Oh yes, and please excuse the picture quality. This was an impromptu post =)
P.S. If you need a Frankie cutter, my friend Karen has some in her cutter shop, Karen’s Cookies. I’m pretty sure that’s where mine came from.
Hope this weekend brings you lots of Halloween baking {or rest if you bake for a living}.
Happy Friday!
You are so amazing!!! I saw that cutter and only saw Frank! You are so smart!!!!!
Oh yeah, I was so excited I forgot to tell you how CUTE these are!!!!! Thanks again for challenging me to see things differently!
I know, they ARE so cute!!! She does an EXCELLENT job of icing them too! Wow, wow, wow!!!
You are so good at playing with cutters!!! Love these guys… xox
These are so darn cute!!!! Ur work is amazing!!
LOVE these. As usual! ; )
Yay!! I love the shot of Frankenstein beside Mr. Potato Head LOL
You are just TOO clever, Callye! We went to the U.S. Food Service outlet store today, and you should have seen me pour over the cookie cutter rack, turning cutters this way and that to see if I could see a different use for them. My cousin thought I was off my rocker, laugh!!!
OMG, I love Mr Potatohead! You are the queen of repurposing cutters. Both are adorable!!
Okay, I can’t decide what I like most– the CUTE little pink cheeks on Frankenstein, the AMAZING details on Mr. Potato Head or the HILARIOUS blog post title. I give up. I love them all!!
So cute!! I love the Potato Head cookie.
I’m up late working on Buzz Lightyear right now…Bo-ring!!!
xoxo
awww….so cute!!! You have the cutest ideas!
Totally, totally AMAZING!!!
OMG! These are too cute! I love the Frankenstein cookies (and Mr. Potato Head is pretty cute himself)! You are amazing!
I’m laughing out loud at both of these cookies and wishing that I could see what you see whenever you look at a cutter. Fabulous Callye!
Pretty awesome!!!
Your imagination is a thing of wonder to me. How do you do it? I want to see what else you can come up with with this cutter Callye. Both of these two guys are awfully cute!
Fire hydrant!!! And this is not my idea, but Smokey the Bear. After she said it I was like, “OH YES!”
Oooh — and a snowman guy with a wool hat!
This is why I love u! This might be stretching it a bit, but I also see a top view if a Cameron with the doors open 🙂
OMG, You are so Creative! The detailing is beautiful. Your cookies are so amazing. Thanks for showing us you wonderful talent.
You, Callye, are one of a kind! I think you’ve inherited some sort of recessive cookie cutter gene or something:)
All I have to say is WOW!!!

You’re so adorable Callye! I wish I could be inside your head for just a day! I can’t imagine how you came up with the Mr. Potato guy out of your Frankenstein cutter. Super fun and amazing! Thanks for sharing.
I ordered that same cutter last year, and when my box arrived, I was surprised to pull out “a fire hydrant cutter” that I didn’t remember ordering. THEN, I remembered it was my dear ol’ Frankie! However, I honestly think he makes a better fire hydrant now. 😉
I like it BETTER than my real hydrant! Way cuter 🙂
I also see a roast chicken with that shape!
Oh my !!!
As ususll you’re FANTASTIC, so Talentet :O)
You are incredible! These are absolutely amazing.
jajaja, icreiblemente terrorifico, que transformación, jajaja.
Kiss
I have always wanted to make a Mr. Potato Head cookie and your invention of Frankie turned Mr. Potato Head is just what I needed! They are both wonderful, but I am in LOVE with Mr. Potato Head!!!!
I loved those candy corn!!! Wish I’d done the cookies that way!
Very cute! I had a feeling when I saw the cutter that you were going to have a secondary use for it. Though I thought it was going to be a Dalmatian with a Fire Fighter’s hat on. 🙂 Cute cookies, as always 🙂
cute !
LOL the dreaded toy story cookie. I think many of us have been there. But I have to say my mind will never be as creative as yours. Thanks for sharing!
Both are too cute, Love Frankie’s expression!
These are too awesome
Hi Callye! Love both of these cookies, and you’re right. That Frankenstein has way more personality than the typical Frankie cutter. I need to place an order with Karen’s Cookies, so I’ll surely look for that. Your Mr. Potato Head couldn’t be cuter, either. You’re awesome, my sweet friend!!
So, umm I have an idea…you must come visit and we can decorate cookies together. These are amazing and you probably already know that you’re amazing!
Callye- So I read through all the comments just to make sure it hadn’t been brought up…
But COOKIE CAMP?? Where do I sign up? I hope you’re not just being your witty self, and that a cookie camp really exists….Oh the joy!!
Anyway, these are absolutely genius!! You should make your site have another section for creative uses for cutters. I love it, and love all your talent. Your work always makes me so inspired and joyful!
Keep up the fantastic work and thanks for sharing all that you do! (pictures were still really good and crisp- I think you’ve got this blog thing down!)
You are so doggone brilliant!
This is exactly what I mean by ingenuity on your part! Love that talented mind of yours, Callye!
adorable! Love Mr.Potato Head makes me want to go out and get a set and play with it all day 🙂
How darling, who’da thunk?
Love, love, love these! I want to play with these cookies:)
Ingenious!!!
These are so cute. You are awesome at seeing opportunities in cookie cutters!
A leprechaun or a pilgrim? And, maybe Abraham Lincoln in his top hat?
I love how you are able to breath life into their expressions, these are fantastic!
Mr. Potato Head and Frankenstein! Now that’s a party I want to attend! Although, I don’t think Mr. Potato would want to do the Monster Mash! LOL. =-) Thanks for creating and sharing! ~Dee
Happy Friday to you too! You have dazzled me once again!
You are so incredibly talented. Those Frankenstein faces have amazing expression for frosting!
So, so, so amazing. Speechless. Thanks for the shout out! 😀
Anytime! =)
Hahaha! These are great! I love it! It’s funny because I’m actually reading Frankenstein in English class 🙂 I especially like Mr. Potato head, great job!
OMGoodness!!! I would have never thought! You are just an amazing cookier! I bet you see cookies at everything you look at! lol I have been seeing some of the cutest halloween gift bags and decorative items that would be adorable as cookies but i think im to afraid to try and recreate! Thanks for the post! I enjoy all!
So cute! I love them. How do you get the height on the frosting for the nose and eyes? Just use stiff royal icing?
You work in layers. Use 20 second icing, and let each layer dry between applications. These videos will help you! https://www.sweetsugarbelle.com/blog/2011/04/the-twenty-second-rule/
Thanks!
Absolutely brilliant!! x
OMG! You are freakin’ AMAZING!
I have cookies just baked sitting on the counter… waiting for my 2nd ever royal icing attempt. I SO want mine to look like yours.
WOW! Thank you for sharing your FAB talents with all of us.
I just love the Mr. Potato Head — cleaver and beautiful at the same time — as always!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…you’re brilliant!
You are the best!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes there are cookies that I look at and they drive me crazy because they are so perfect and beautifully done that it hurts my brain to think through the process. The details and layers of these are complete masterpieces!
Such adorable cookies! To me, the cutter looked like an upside down country style snowman with hat and folded in arms.

they are so cute
Hi! Do you have a tutorial on the Toy Story? I love it!
I didn’t do a tuto for that one, I just made it quickly one night as I noticed….sorry, maybe sometime soon.
Hilarious!!! Love them! You are so talented! Each photo in this blog makes me gasp, really!!
that is so so cute.
I love the Mr. Potato Head! Did you add dough to make the brim of the hat? The cutter is syraoght near the top but you have a nice hat. Thank you, I LOVE your work
I wanna go to cookie camp! Where do they have it?
These cookies are amazing. I am a day care owner and I am always creating and doing fun and crafty things. I would love to learn how to make these Adorable cookies. I had never heard of Cookie Camp. I would love to hear more please. Thank you
I’m a new reader, but i love baking and decorating. My mom was always making and creating cute professionally decorated cakes and always seemed like she was creating a masterpiece only to see it devoured in one sitting. Bit she loved doing it, is always been a wonder to me why she never became a professional decorator, she’s incredibly artistic (unlike myself) j was blessed to get en0ough of her talent to consider myself average and resourceful. Anyhoos, i noticed your Frankenstein/Mr. Potato head post and wondered, if you can make Mr potato head, how about the Mrs. too. In hind site i would have made some first then sent you the comment with my idea and picture. Problem there is i have no Frankenstein cutter and with all my current Halloween projects and two kids i don’t have the time 🙁 the idea intrudes me though especially for a themed party. If it’s not to much of a bother maybe you could create a batch of the Mr. & Mrs., i would live to see your take on it.and if i find myself in possession of a Frankenstein cutter soon,i will gladly share my (amateur) results 🙂
Please forgive the slew of grammatical errors, i hasn’t been to bed yet and it’s nearly morning, holiday gitters? I get very excited about Halloween 🙂
BTW, I love your blog! You inspire me.
Yikes! I am not a cookie decorator by any sense. However, my granddaughter is having a Mr. Potato Head theme for her first birthday. Her name is Taytem and we caller her tater a lot. I ordered the cookie cutter from your friend. However do I need to order the cookie cutters that are for the parts or did you just frosting them on? Sorry to be so dense. Love your cookies. Thanks
