"Cookie-ing" From the Trenches
I love to make cookies. In fact, it’s so much fun, I don’t know why the whole world has not joined thecookie revolution. It’s rewarding, fun, and a tasty way of expressing yourself.
I just cannot understand why everyone’s not doing it, UNTIL…
I spend the better part of a Saturday standing at the sink doing this. I’m guessing bottle washing is not a popular weekend pastime…
Oh, the things I do for this crazy hobby of mine!
And just in case you are wondering how I could make SUCH a mess in one day, I’ll show you exactly how to do it. =)
To make the mess of all messes, all you have to do is make a platter of fruit cookies.This platter has about fifteen different colors! {It might be 17 or 18, I lost count}
In my defense, it usually takes me three or four days to make a mess of this caliber, but this set of cookies is the exception.
This, my friends, is “cookie-ing” from the trenches. This is an everyday reality for those of us who have taken this obsession to a whole new level.
That said, I hope everyone is spending their Saturday decorating and not cleaning up the mess =)
Happy decorating friends!
Those cookies are so beautiful! Edible works of art is the only description that I can come up with that even half describes them.
The mess we make when we bake is the cross we bear everyday. But the smiles on the faces of the recipients (and your readers) makes it all worth it.
You are making the world better, one batch of cookies at a time.x
I can't even imagine how you plan and organize and individually design those fruit cookies! Must be a lot of work! But they sure are gorgeous! 🙂

wholay !!!!! That’s alot of bottles !!! I feel your pain sista 🙂
The things we do for love (of cookies)! It takes a sink full of bottles to raise a platter of art that stunning. It was worth it! A sink full of hot water and dish soap, walk away, come back later & rinse. I love that about cookie icing…no greasy mess and it dissolves so fast. It’s the Murphy’s Law for Cookiers: In order to make beautiful cookies other things have to be made ugly.
Hi, I’m so impressed with your icing. From now on, you are my icing guru!!! I’ve baked cookies for so many years but have never iced them till today. I’ve been requested to bake for a girl’s birthday so I’m facing my fears and doing it. Keeping my fingers crossed! Thank you 🙂
I devoloped a trick years ago when working in a salon. The color bottles were hard as heck to clean out. I added some uncooked rice and water and gave them a good shake. The rice helps to “scrub” the bottle, making cleaning much easier.
I just feel like I need to tell you how much your blog/site has changed my life. You are so professional. The links you provide blow my mind. I’m just starting out on this cookie adventure, but I can already tell it’s going to be life changing. I really think it’s the outlet I have been looking for my whole life. Thank you for being such a wealth of knowledge and inspiration!
Tienes unas ideas maravillosas y unas manos portentosas, todo es precioso, estoy realmente maravillada ????. Y lo explicas todo con gran sencillez, GRACIASSSSS.
I have a friend that is so allergic to all nuts, maybe I have a dumb question but when the recipe calls for almond extract, will that affect her child’s allergy
It would be best to check with your friend but I would say yes, it will affect the child.
I love this! Although I have to say, I’m thinking twice about giving it a go now that I’ve seen your top photo! 😀 who am I kidding, I’ll give it a go!
