After Christmas Shopping Frenzy
You won’t often see me hitting the day after Christmas sales. I like to save my gift cards until the stores are restocked and the January clearance sales begin. However, there is ONE thing that always draws me out, and you should check it out too!
I LOVE CLEARANCE boxes, preferably the 8×8 size. They comfortably hold about a dozen cookies and are perfect for shipping. They come plain or with designs which are great inspiration for coordinated sets.
Last year’s stash came in very handy while shipping holiday cookies this year.
The best part about clearance boxes, of course, is the price. At about thirty cents per box, it’s unlikely you’ll find a better deal. So, if you’re just sitting around, enjoying a lazy day it may be worth your time to bundle up and brave the shoppers!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas filled with peace and joy!
I get these all the time!!!
Great idea!! I’ll have to run by CVS on my way home from work and see if they have any left!
Merry Christmas Callye!
You are so smart!!! I am going out tomorrow! Hope the stores have some left!
Thanks for the heads up on the boxes. Much cheaper than those doggone tins!
What a great idea. I’ll have to check the stores for those.
I pick up tins for cookies every year which gives the recipient something to store them in as well.
I just fell in LOVE with these boxes too. I would like to track some of these down as well!
Walgreens and Walmart =)
I love doing this, but we slept in this year so I only got a few:(
thanks for the tip. bought a bunch at wallyworld, think i’ll hit them again tomorrow
I was hoping to find some good deals at the grocery store last night on things like Christmas M&Ms and Christmas Hershey Kisses but was surprised they were only marked down 25% instead of the usual 75%. I like to pick out the red, silver, gold and white candies, put them in the freezer and use them for Valentine’s Day. Bummer…. think I’ll check Walmart tomorrow and while there, thanks to your good suggestion, check out the boxes too.
Good idea ans save money.
That is such a good idea! I always go to get cards and wrapping paper for the following year but never think to look at the boxes.
I always go nuts and buy every blouse size box I can get. Usually at 75% off, you can’t beat it. It fits perfectly a dozen minis!!!
I havent’ shopped at all ! I love bargains, I think I live for them actually.
These are so wonderful! Wish i could get buy them!!
oh yes, last year i spent new year´s eve in the US ans i still found some at the shops, I came back to Spain with some, that I used during the year…good good good!
I was reading your post from “After Christmas Shopping Frenzy” and I have a question. Do you place your cookies directly in the boxes? Or put them in something else to help them stay fresh before putting them in the boxes?
Thanks!
P.S. I love your blog it is filled with a wealth of information.
Here’s a post on how I safely ship cookies =) https://www.sweetsugarbelle.com/2011/12/shipping-cookies/
What size box would you suggest for 2 dozen 3 in. cookies to fit comfortably?
It’s strange to attempt to so particularly characterize something so expansive. Christmas is such a variety of various things to such a large number of various individuals. I don’t have the foggiest idea about that there’s a guideline book about how to celebrate. Certainly, there’s a huge amount of corporate greed and numerous individuals attempt to exploit the occasion, yet that happens with anything.
