The Wilton Hello Kitty Cutter is Finally Here!
Last week a friend of mine shared her awesome Hobby Lobby find with me. To my delight, and I have to say, this is one of the few times I think I have ever used the word delight in reference to myself, she’d discovered a double set of Hello Kitty cookie cutters! I was SO excited that I immediately headed “to town”.
Now when I say town, that’s actually a pretty big deal because for me, heading “to town” requires a sixty mile trip with three kids and an IPOD loaded with kiddie music.
It might have been a little extreme, but I’m dedicated to my craft. It was worth all four bathroom visits, the triple encore of their favorite song, Ghostbusters, and the half-way home, for the FIFTH time, emergency pit-stop.
After all that, one set just wasn’t enough.
These were too good to pass up.
So, I got one for myself…
AND THEN, because cutters like these aren’t just hanging around in Mexico, I picked up one for my friend Bea… AND THEN, because we’ve actually shared a Hello Kitty cutter via mail, I snagged one one for my friend Asya, so she would always have one around when she needs it…
As for the last set, well, that one I got for one of YOU.
It may not seem like much, but let me tell you these cutters are more valuable than gold.
G-O-L-D, gold.
If you are just starting your cookie adventure, you may not yet be aware that trying to find a decent Hello Kitty cutter is like trying to find a raindrop out here in West Texas. A little hope, a tease, and then a BIG FAT LETDOWN!
I’ve pretty much purchased every single Hello Kitty cutter Google can find. The problem is, they always ended up being HUGE or tiny, or they’d be missing an important element like Kitty’s trademark bow, and I’m a stickler for things like trademark bows.
After about a year of searching, I ran across an” iffy” set at the Sanrio store. I was excited at first, and thought maybe I’d finally found the cutter I’d been looking for. But even after mauling it to remove the irritating impression thingy, it still left unwanted dents in the side of my cookies.
So, eventually, I gave up and began using templates and other shapes.
That said, maybe now you understand why the news of these two little cutters brought me so much joy.
Just for the record, I did get a lot of use out of some of my “rejects” . The blue rice mold and larger sandwich cutter {both availiable on Ebay} came in quite handy, especially for minis and centerpiece cookies.
But still, just aren’t the good ol’ not too big and not too small Wilton-version of my good friend Kitty.
Now for the best part!
Entering the giveaway is simple. All you’ve gotta do is say something. Hi, bye, whatever you want, as long as it’s nice. If you feel like sharing this with others, you can, if not, that’s okay too. The only thing I ask is that you just enter once, and you make sure to do it before Saturday July 2, 2011 {midnight CST}.
GIVEAWAY CLOSED
THE WINNER IS:
I hope my experience can save you a bit of trouble and money.

Hi Callye! I stumbled upon your website earlier this week from a link on http://beeinourbonnet.blogspot.com about your Popsicle cookies. In the past three days, I’ve ready EVERY blog post back to October 2010. You and your cookies are AMAZING, but you already know that. I’ve been “the cake lady” for three years, and I’m planning my first cookie decorating project this weekend thanks to Sweet Sugarbelle. But I am really writing you to share sympathy in regards to your “Diary of a Brokenhearted Baker” post last year. I too have struggled meeting local ordinances. But thank you for overcoming and continuing your website for people like me. You are such an inspiration!
My GOOODNESS your work is amazing! Man how I needed you last week! But I am sure happy I found you! Keep sharing and thank you very much!
I hope I win! Would LOVE LOVE LOVE this cutter, but don’t live near a Hobby Lobby!
Seeing that cute little Hello Kitty face takes me right back to childhood. Too adorable for words!!
I may have lost hearing in my left ear when I showed my 20 year old cousin this post…the squeal…good Lord, the squeal! Goes to show that you never really outgrow Hello Kitty.
I have been following your blog for a couple of months now, and I must say that I always look forward to your posts! Yours is one of the first blogs I check in the morning for cookie inspiration:) Thanks for all your tips and tutorials!

Thanks, I just called Hobby Lobby and they said they have one left and they are holding it for me. They also have a Sponge Bob and Patrick which of course I had to have. They are out of the Dora right now. I like Wilton cutters because they are easy to keep clean. I really enjoy your website – thank you!

Question?!? Do you find that people prefer the pink bow or the classic red bow for Hello Kitty? I am thinking of doing a cake like this for her as well:
