Panda Bear Cookies
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed an unfortunate lack of bear face cookie cutters on the market today? The ones I’ve found are either way too big or way too small.
While I wait for someone to remedy this, I’m limited to using what I have. While I’ve been known to morph frog cutters into bear faces, this time around I wanted something a little “rounder”.
I used simple circle cutters to piece together these panda face cookies. When it comes to round cutters, I love sets like this one because I always have the size I need.
To keep things symmetrical, use the larger round cutter and a food safe marker to mark the curve of the ears before piping.
To make these cookies you will need:
- White piping and 20-second icing
- Black 20-second icing
Begin by outlining the face with a #2 tip. Use 20-second icing to add a snout.
One the icing has set {give it extra time if you have bleeding issues} use black icing to add jelly bean shaped patches where the eyes will be. After more drying time, flood the entire face.
Once the cookie is completely dry, add the finishing touches:
- Use black 20-second icing for ears
- Add a nose
- Use a small round tip to pipe eyes
For a more realistic looking panda, you could also drop sugar pearls into the wet black icing. Although I like both looks, I went for contrast this time around.
To complete the set, I mixed in other fun designs. For help with the other cookies in this collection, check out the following products and posts:

As always, it amazes me how several different designs can work together to create a beautiful collection of cookies.

So beautiful. I see you have gotten over your fear of your airbrush! Love the set.
These are great! I really need to get more inventive to make cookies with multiple cutters on one cookie – I just have a hard time seeing the final picture. Maybe its better to work backwards? Sketch what you want and figure out how to make the cutters you have fit in this new shape? Thanks for the tutorial!!
It’s beautiful, your “horse” is perfect. And the water lily is cute. Wish you ll do a class on this set.
The airbrush accents on this set of cookies is amazing… Ok confession time, I got an airbrush and two sets of colors for it a few months ago and haven’t even taken it out of the box. The thing kinda freaks me out to be honest with you. You’ve inspired me to put the time into learning how to use it… But the fear is still there. I’d love an airbrush cookie post 🙂
What a great platter! Cute panda – of course – and always love your multi-cutter cookies.
These are super cute. Love that lilly pad!
Where do you get all these great cookie ideas?

Perfect!!! Love the whole collection!! Thanks for the tutorial!! –Katy
I recently found you and have been inspirational. I love baking and want to get into cookie decorating. Love your style. My first attempt to cookie decorating was a semi disaster (my 3 yr old daughter had to help) and a disappointment. I didn’t realize how hard it was. But I won’t give up! Your videos are very helpful as well. Thank you!
It’s a beautiful platter! I love your colour combinations and the repetition of round and square shapes. Do you always plan your “collections” on paper or do they just “happen” by magic? 🙂
Usually, I think about them for a long time before they happen. Sometimes it’s the tiniest thing I see, and others, I take one detail and work around it. This one was actually a combo of a few things I wanted to “redo” from older sets with the addition of a panda.
I think my biggest downfall is not sketching every design, there were a couple of others I wanted to include BUT since I didn’t plan well, they’re on the “next time ” list, lol!
I have to say that I think you filled the void of bear face cookies, you did them proud!
xoxoxo
Your platters are always so uniquely colourful and these panda cookies are adorable!
