Decorated Santa Cookies
The Thanksgiving holiday has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean you should shelve your turkey cutter just yet. If you don’t have a Santa face cutter {or if you’re just tired of your current Santa} give this fun idea a try.
I’ve yet to use my turkey cutter for turkeys, but I sure like it as Santa! This particular cutter came from this set.
To make these cookies you will need:
- White piping and 20-second icing
- Flesh tone piping and 20-second icing {for tips on various skin tones, click here}
- Red 20-second icing
- Black piping icing
Begin by using white 20-second icing to flood the cookie as shown below. I work in sections to help me stay oriented. Start with the trim, add a beard, then the tip of Santa’s hat.
Let the white sit for about ten minutes {longer if you have bleeding issues} then the flood the face and hat. Let the cookie dry.
After the base later has dried it’s time to add facial details. Use a #2 tip to pipe eyebrows, eyes, and nose.
Next, use 20-second icing to add a mustache. You can do this in one section if you like.
Clean up the design with a piped detail. Using a #1.5 tip start with the fur trim, move to the beard, add a ball to Santa’s hat, and finish up with a little mustache swirl.
Everyone knows that Santa is happiest surrounded by family and friends, so…I added the rest of the gang, of course. There’s Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, Frosty, and the Elves.
And in case you’re wondering, I made them with random cutters too. Mrs. Claus was formerly a skull, Rudy a bear {a gingerbread cutter works too}, the elf an angel, Santa a turkey {of course}, and Frosty a full body snowman that I trimmed.
Even if you’re working with a very limited list of cutters, there’s a chance you have most of these {or something similar}.
PS-If you have a Santa face cutter already, you can decorate it following the same steps above.

Are you planning on doing a tutorial of the snowman, Mrs. Claus & maybe the reindeer shown in the picture above? I am especially interested in Mrs. Claus & the snowman. If you’re not planning on doing a tutorial on them, would you please tell me if you used 20 second icing for the flooding on them as you did for Santa? Thanks so much & I hope you’re feeling well! 🙂
