Bunny Track Cookies
Every year around this time, an old familiar tune starts running through my brain. “Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail…hippity, hoppity Easter’s on it’s way!”
With all the bunnies hopping around in my brain, of course I had to make cookies!
As I’ve mentioned before, my inspiration comes from the strangest of places. Would you believe the entire time I was working on these polar pal cookies I was seeing bunny paws?
To make bunny track cookies I used a simple egg cutter and trimmed with a heart. They’d look just as cute untrimmed but y’all already know how I like to complicate things…especially since these are the easiest cookies EVER!
To make these cookies you will need:
- White piping and flood icing
- Pink 20-second icing
Begin by outlining and flooding the cookies as pictured below.
Once the base is completely dry {8-24 hours} use pink 20-second icing to create paws and you’re finished!
That’s all there is to adorable Easter cookies in a snap! These are great as a stand alone cookie, but they also look precious mixed with bunny faces and cotton tails. You could also do minis or a simple green round with bunny tracks if you like. There are tons of possibilities!
And just in case you don’t have bunnies on the brain, here are a few more Easter cookie ideas:
On a more personal note, you might have noticed that I’ve been missing in action lately. It isn’t permanent, the last few weeks of pregnancy have really taken their toll on my body. It seems that in the six years since my last baby, I forgot how much growing a human can take out of you. While I have big plans of starting her cookie decorating career at a very early age, I’ve been trying to rest and enjoy my little miracle as much as possible. Thank you for your patience!
SO glad to see this post — you had us worried! Enjoy your new little one!
Those are so cute Callye! Still thinking cookies even while waiting on a baby!!
These are so cute and I’m a huge fan of your work. I aspire to make such beautiful cookies one day! But…rabbits don’t have pads on their feet. They’re just fur covered…all over the whole foot. Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble. 😉
Dang Lynn… you just ruined Easter. Way to go!
Only kidding. That fact didn’t occur to me until reading it here.
Your ability to make the simplest cookies look so beautiful just amazes me. Seeing simple cookies, made with simple cookie cutters always make me smile. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us. May the rest of your pregnancy be easier and I am praying for a easy and quick delivery for you. Sending you hugs and love!
So darn cute and as clever as always! I love the soft, easy color palette! And I love the cute little bunny nose and the fun little tuft of hair 😀
Adorable!
Simple perfect. Again! Praying for a safe delivery for both mother and child. 🙂 What a wonderful way to welcome spring!
* Simply perfect — that’s what I MEANT!
So adorable. I have been thinking about you, Callye, and hoping all is well ! Take care of yourself and that sweet little gift;)))
Oh how happy I was to see this post… I seriously check your blog daily and when you had not posted in a month I kept telling my hubby I was worried about “Sugarbelle”. So glad your news for not posting is so wonderful! Baby girls are amazing but you already know that. Plus new babies are an excuse for cookie celebration. I’m hoping this lovely cookie blogging community throws you a virtual shower. 🙂 Praying for a healthy pregnancy and delivery. CONGRATULATIONS!!
Wow I am impressed, I remember how big and uncomfortable I was pregnant. Can’t imagine having the energy of taking care of little ones and being able to bake/decorate cookies.
Rest up lady, turn the oven off and put your feet up! Best wishes to you and your family!
I am so happy to see you. You were missed! Take it easy and enjoy your sweet baby.
Oh man I completely understand how you may feel and your rite, enjoy the last of it. Altho it was great to see a new post 🙂 question, for the 20 second rule icing, can I outline and flood with that consistency? Hope the remaining of your pregnancy is wonderful.
These are so cute, Callye!
Robin
I love your cookies i’l try to make them soon! Kisses from Turkey!
Rest your body. There will be plenty of time to make cookies but only a small opportunity to enjoy your pregnancy. I can’t wait to try these once my Mother’s day cookies are out of the way. Stay happy and healthy! 😀
Callye, I just want to say that you have been an inspiration for me, I am still working at decorating cookies, and have missed your posts. Congratulations with the most precious gift, a baby, you truely are an amazing woman. Thank You.
Callye, I’m sitting her reading this post while rocking my 8 month old daughter, trying to get her to sleep. It wasn’t so long ago that I was where you are now. Knowing it would be my last pregnancy I soaked up every last (painful, tired, swollen & nauseated) minute. I couldn’t decorate cookies as the smell of RI made me even more nauseous! I think it was the egg white smell? Anyway luckily that went away. There will be time for cookies and before you know it your 8 month old will be crawling over your feet as you decorated like mine does 🙂 I guess I am trying to say enjoy it, we all know what’s important, enjoy and much love xo
Very cute cookies! I actually had someone ask me if I could make bunny prints for them someday and I was wondering what cutter I could use. Problem solved! Take it easy for the rest of your pregnancy. We can wait, though we’ll miss you. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing. I have just gotten into making and decorating cookies so far there have none worth posting. I hope one day I will just get close to your talent.
Thank you again, and good luck with that new little one on the way.
Glad you’re back! Been missing your cookie genius, AND you!! Good luck w cooking that baby!!
These are super cute. I just love the bunny track.
We missed you so much at CC but I’m hoping I get to meet you at the next one. Rest up and take care of yourself and your precious little one for now. Believe me, if you didn’t post for months all of us who follow you would still be faithful! We have all the patience in the world when it comes to waiting for your next creations. 🙂
These cookies make me smile. I’m so happy to see a post from you. I’ve been stalking your blog daily ;-). The bunny faces are so adorable! I always complicate faces in my mind & therefore shy away from character or animal cookies. Your style makes me want to try them now.
All the Best with your newest addition to your family…
I’m kind of a newbie but am a HUGE fan! I was getting kind of worried that I wasn’t hearing from you but am so relieved to know that you are still around. Didn’t know you were pregnant – congratulations! So, will we be seeing more baby inspired cookie designs in the near future? You are a huge inspiration to me and I look forward to seeing your e-mails in my inbox!
Oh man. I am always torn when visiting your site. On one hand, I LOVE all of the amazing and beautiful things you do! On the other… icing hates me and I wish I could make things 1/2 as good as you do.
Keep up the good work!
I’m so glad you’re back! I’ve missed you!! Enjoy your time and take it easy…I suppose I can try to be patient for more amazing cookies!
Since I knew from an interview of yours on Cookie Connection that you’re going to be mom again soon, I thought that your absence from the website was baby-bump related!! I wish you the greatest of luck for your little lady and hope to hear from you soon! This is the first time I comment here on your website but I’m a huge fan! Congrats because you’re such an inspiration and a great long-distance teacher! Thanks for everything!! Ps: what will her name be?!? Love. J.
I love these, they’re so sweet! And we can’t wait to see that little miracle! Take care, rest up – you may need it. 😉
What gorgeous biscuits. Your cookies are perfectly-shaped. I could only dream of getting my cookies with perfect edges 😀
Hi Callye. I assumed your precious “bump” was taking your energy….as it should….it’s nice to know all is well. I’m a first time grandma and was trying to take care of my “teething” 6 month old grandson last week while trying to get out a wedding shower order for 50 cookies. I don’t know how you young moms do it! So trust me….I totally understand the need for time away from the biz. Praying for a happy, healthy little girl and a speedy recovery for mom.
I am snuggling my (just) one year old nursling and realizing today was her due date last year…and reading your post of course 🙂 i am just now feeling like I can get back into art and baking – belle is my last 🙂 Keep up the amazing work Callye – mama and artist 🙂 Winn
P.s. I hope you got my email but no need to rush a response…enjoy your rest before baby!!
So simple, yet super cute!!! Thank you, once again, for more cute cookie ideas 🙂 Now go get some rest <3
Hi Callye. Could you share with us what tip you used to do the little dollop on the bunny face please. Thanks. Best of luck to you during the delivery of your little bundle of joy!
I think it was a 23 🙂
I’m glad to see you are back and am hoping that the last of the pregnancy goes well. Although I have never in my life done any cookies with royal icing, I read your blog every week and dream about the day I will have the courage to try it.
You are wonderful and I love your blog!
Hi Callye, so nice to have you back online. I wasn’t aware that you’re pregnant. Congratulations and hoping that all goes well. I had my third child after 12 years and ….. what a change. Wishing you and your family the very best.
My! everytime I’m having a look at your site I just think WOW! you’re such an artist, love what you do!
Hey! I hope the last of your pregnancy goes swimmingly! Just wanted to say thank you…I had a baby in December and for his baptism, I decided toake cookies for the thank you gift!
While I couldnt quite master the flood icing well enough for this cookie project (100 cookies), I used your cookie recipe and icing recipe to make 100 beautiful cookies!
I dipped the bottom big blossom cookie half in white and half in blue icing, then used a blob of royal icing to attach a smaller cross cookie centred on top and decorated it with pearls.
If I didn’t have your tutorials I never would have felt confident enough to do this! Thank you! 🙂
Amazing ! Your talent is always evident, but to be able to continue at your perfectionist level, while pregnant and exhausted is a testament to you as a hard worker and artist.
So glad I found your cookie decorating blog a year or so ago…never miss your next creation.
With that said… All the best to you and your family. Looking forward to hearing about your lovely little girl.
Hi Callye,
I’ve been following you since last year and take up the courage to did a batch of cookies for my friend’s daughter birthday party. It was my first attempt on decorating cookies. It turn out not so good as there was “holes” in the icing after it dries up and the cookie is soft maybe because I expose it too long. I did my second attempt during my son’s one year old birthday and it does not have the “holes” anymore but still the cookie are soft after exposing it for the decoration and during the party. Do you have any solution on this? I will blog about it later and send you an email to show you.
Cheers Celine
so cute 🙂
