The Wilton Hello Kitty Cutter is Finally Here!
Last week a friend of mine shared her awesome Hobby Lobby find with me. To my delight, and I have to say, this is one of the few times I think I have ever used the word delight in reference to myself, she’d discovered a double set of Hello Kitty cookie cutters! I was SO excited that I immediately headed “to town”.
Now when I say town, that’s actually a pretty big deal because for me, heading “to town” requires a sixty mile trip with three kids and an IPOD loaded with kiddie music.
It might have been a little extreme, but I’m dedicated to my craft. It was worth all four bathroom visits, the triple encore of their favorite song, Ghostbusters, and the half-way home, for the FIFTH time, emergency pit-stop.
After all that, one set just wasn’t enough.
These were too good to pass up.
So, I got one for myself…
AND THEN, because cutters like these aren’t just hanging around in Mexico, I picked up one for my friend Bea… AND THEN, because we’ve actually shared a Hello Kitty cutter via mail, I snagged one one for my friend Asya, so she would always have one around when she needs it…
As for the last set, well, that one I got for one of YOU.
It may not seem like much, but let me tell you these cutters are more valuable than gold.
G-O-L-D, gold.
If you are just starting your cookie adventure, you may not yet be aware that trying to find a decent Hello Kitty cutter is like trying to find a raindrop out here in West Texas. A little hope, a tease, and then a BIG FAT LETDOWN!
I’ve pretty much purchased every single Hello Kitty cutter Google can find. The problem is, they always ended up being HUGE or tiny, or they’d be missing an important element like Kitty’s trademark bow, and I’m a stickler for things like trademark bows.
After about a year of searching, I ran across an” iffy” set at the Sanrio store. I was excited at first, and thought maybe I’d finally found the cutter I’d been looking for. But even after mauling it to remove the irritating impression thingy, it still left unwanted dents in the side of my cookies.
So, eventually, I gave up and began using templates and other shapes.
That said, maybe now you understand why the news of these two little cutters brought me so much joy.
Just for the record, I did get a lot of use out of some of my “rejects” . The blue rice mold and larger sandwich cutter {both availiable on Ebay} came in quite handy, especially for minis and centerpiece cookies.
But still, just aren’t the good ol’ not too big and not too small Wilton-version of my good friend Kitty.
Now for the best part!
Entering the giveaway is simple. All you’ve gotta do is say something. Hi, bye, whatever you want, as long as it’s nice. If you feel like sharing this with others, you can, if not, that’s okay too. The only thing I ask is that you just enter once, and you make sure to do it before Saturday July 2, 2011 {midnight CST}.
GIVEAWAY CLOSED
THE WINNER IS:
I hope my experience can save you a bit of trouble and money.
Thank goodness the Hello Kitty cutter is FINALLY here!

Oh I have been wanting a Hello Kitty cookie cutter soooo bad!!
My daughter turns 9 in August and wants a Hello Kitty party. I’ve been searching high and low for a cutter with a bow that I didn’t have to purchase all the way from Hong Kong for over a month. None the less I gave in this past Friday and purchased the sandwich cutter with the stencil to make sure it’d be here in time. I’m so happy Wilton finally came out with one!! Thanks so much for sharing your find 🙂 Hopefully I can find one here in Austin 🙂

Omg! I love these and have to have them. I used to always go to the Sanrio store when I was little.
I JUST NOW realized that my very first trip to a Hobby Lobby last week resulted in me looking at ONLY fabric! I forgot there were so many other wonderful items to be had there. OY! 2 hour trip for me to get to a HL and since I drive a gas guzzler it just isn’t going to happen again anytime real soon.
I love Hello Kitty!! I have a couple other HK cutters…but can’t wait to get these…Thanks for sharing 😉
Awesome find! My 7 yr old girl loves pink and kittens. Perfect combo for a cutter.

So glad you found the right Hello Kitty. They are so cute!
Ok, I gotta get one of these now. How do you perfectly space HK’s eyes and nose? I think that is the key to making an authentic looking HK. You have done a great job! Tutorial please if you can!
These are so cute– I’d love to have one! Your cookie platter with Hello Kitty and the pink and green cookies looks spectacular!
Please pick me!!! Pretty pretty please!!!!!
Adorable!! I’ve always been a hello kitty fan!!
I know exactly what you mean by “going to town”. For most of my life, I’ve had pretty much EXACTLY the same trip, (actually, slightly longer) which had to be done weekly, or at least fortnightly, to get our week’s or so supply of groceries (buying groceries at home is like throwing half your money away, it was cheaper to get petrol for the long trip and groceries in town than buying groceries at home!). It used to be such a huge thing to go to town when I was a kid.
Thank you for the information, I´d like to have another kitty cookie cutter!
love your blog!
Gabi Tagliabue
Callye, your zebra striped cookies have inspired me to dust off my cookie cutters and do some baking last week, loved your tutorial on them! Everyone was impressed, I even had a Pastry Chef friend ask if I used a stencil when he saw the pic I emailed him! 🙂

I’m in Israel… =(
I was so excited when I found at the one in Memphis back in May! I heard they are hard to find, so I had to get one.

Aw…how adorable!
I have always loved Hello KItty. As a little girl my mother use to treat me to A Hello Kitty pencil or eraser for good grades. It wasn’t alot as I look back now but, oh that was a precious gem to me. There wasn’t a Sanrio at the time, just a little display at the local Longs Drugstore. I have 2 girls(19and 13) and they grew up with those same Hello Kitty stuff for thier good grades too. Makes me smile just remembering:)
Thanks for the giveaway…Good luck to everyone!

I have been looking for a good Hello Kitty cutter. I have even tried to cut template out of paper. But no luck with keeping that signature Hello Kitty roundness. These look like the perfect cutter. Can’t wait to find them.
