El Dia De Los Muertos

Since I still haven’t gotten around to Halloween, I decided I would fill today with a cookie honoring a beautiful Mexican holiday, El Dia De Los Muertos or The Day of the Dead.

I have been enchanted with this celebration since I visited a traditional catholic cemetery at this time about ten years ago. I could not believe what I saw! I felt like I had not only stepped back in time, but also into another country. Since then, I have had a HUGE interest in this culturally rich holiday! These cookies are my tribute to El Dia de Los Muertos.

This holiday is steeped in culture and tradition, and I recently had the privilege of an in-depth lesson on it from my Mexican cookie sisters, Bea and Myri. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for sharing this most special and meaningful of days with me!
